Aging is a process everything and everyone goes through. From a fine wine, to an elegant older woman, there are many plus sides to aging. There are down sides as well. As with anything there are always two sides. Things and people that age gracefully are generally preferred by everyone.
Moisturizing regularly will help reduce unwanted wrinkling and other signs of aging that become visible on our skin. You want to choose a moisturizing routine that will keep your skin hydrated. Check with a dermatologist to see what will work for you the best and make sure to use it on a regular basis. They don’t do much good in the bottle.
Try not to dwell on numbers too much. Let your doctor worry about numbers. If you worry that you are 84 years old, weigh 10 more pounds than you did last year, and that have lost an inch of height, you won’t have any time to keep yourself useful by doing fun activities.
For healthy aging, don’t be afraid to be a bit of a nester. Find things that you absolutely love and put them all around you, whether it’s flowers, friends, family, music, movies or any of a multitude of hobbies. When it comes down to it, your home is your place of comfort. Make it your own. Make it a place where you love to be.
Step up your fitness routine. In order to maintain your strength and fitness against aging, your body needs to move. You should at least take 5 days out of every week to go on a thirty minute walk. Add variety with strength exercise a couple of times a week. You will be more fit and at a level that will keep you young.
As we age, our body decreases in hormone production, such as testosterone and estrogen. You doctor may prescribe hormone replacement therapy drugs. These drugs can cause harmful side effects, so they should be taken under physician’s supervision only.
One of the first things to start going when you age is your eyesight. As you age, it begins to rapidly deteriorate. Make sure that as you age you have frequent visits to the ophthalmologist, in order to track your eyes’ degradation, and have glasses or contacts prescribed in order to make it less drastic.
Add personalized touches of style to your home so it reflects who you are. You need to adjust your home to your preferences as you age. Surround yourself with things that make you feel happy and comfortable.
Do protect your skin against wrinkles and cancer by wearing proper sunblock but don’t over do it to the extent that you deprive yourself of much needed vitamin D! As much harm as too much sun can do, too little of it can also hurt you so find a suitable SPF that will prevent damage without completely prohibiting your intake of highly beneficial sunlight!
To age brings troubles, sure, but with every trouble there is generally a plus side. For instance, your wine may have had to age for years before being enjoyed, which is troublesome because you have to wait for a long time to enjoy it. But when you do get to savor the experience of that wine aging, it is well worth it.
