We are all aging. From the moment we are born to the moment we pass away, our bodies are aging. Our minds grow stronger and then weaker as we first age to adulthood, and then move into old age. Aging doesn’t have to be horrible though; read on to see why.
Don’t get caught feeling and acting old! Spend time with children! Volunteer at a daycare or a church nursery where you can feel useful and engage in childish activities. Keep in touch often with grandkids and have them visit often. Children will make you feel young and joyful again!
Understand hormone imbalances and be sure to treat them. As you age, many of the more difficult challenges are caused by imbalances in your hormones. This includes issues like depression, insomnia and weight increases. Go to your doctor if you are feeling off in any way and have yourself tested. Doctors can put you on a plan for supplementing your hormones.
Eat with your friends and your family. You can make a day of it with your family, and it does not have to be a holiday to do it. Prepare the meal together. Make it a meal of everyone’s favorite foods, and teach them the way that you have prepared these kinds of food throughout their lives.
You want to remain fit when you get older not only in your body, but also in your mind. One way to do that is to exercise your brain through puzzles and such. These mentally stimulating games will keep your brain focused and active, which could strengthen brain cells and possibly create new ones.
While your body may not feel as spry as it used to when you were younger, you will still want to get exercise to keep it working at top capacity. Exercising feels good because it releases endorphins, which makes you feel good. A quick walk around the block or even around the mall will have you feeling better in no time.
You need to surround yourself with happy, upbeat people. Studies have shown that laughing and smiling will reduce wrinkles and keep you looking younger. Choose to spend time with people who make you happy, smile and laugh, and not those who are so negative.
Maintain a positive attitude. You’re only as old as you feel, and if you stay positive aging can be a wonderful time of your life. Make sure you start every day giving thanks for what you have in your life, and watch how much better the day is when you approach it happily.
There are 19 foods that are considered to be must have items in your refrigerator and pantry, and they will work wonders for your health and vitality as you age. Write these down and post it somewhere in your home to keep yourself reminded to stay stocked: seafood, dairy, spinach, nuts, olive oil, broccoli, oatmeal, flax seed meal, avocados, pomegranate juice, tomatoes, tofu, yogurt, red onions, garlic, beans and lentils! It may seem like a lot but it is the least you can do for yourself and the best results you can yield from your meal planning efforts!
Aging is without a doubt a great challenge. It’s hard to accept. But, as you can see, there’s a lot that you can do to live longer, healthier and happier. So don’t give in!
